Dawn is passionate about many causes and is personally involved with the following groups:

America True

America True

America TrueAmerica True is a 501(c)(3) foundation led by Dawn Riley that promotes and introduces young people to the joys of sailing nationwide. The America True Youth Program was born in 1997 while CEO Dawn Riley was campaigning for the 2000 America's Cup. Under Dawn's direction, America True was the first syndicate in history to be headed by a woman, and the first to have a co-ed crew. Our motto, "If you can dream it, you can do it", carried us through a strong showing in the semifinal round of the Louis Vuitton Cup. But this motto and the spirit of the crew have left an even stronger legacy. Today America True is solely dedicated to the youth program we started during the campaign. And while America True no longer participates in the America's Cup, we are more dedicated than ever to sharing the life lessons of sailing with youth throughout the United States. "If you can dream it, you can do it"!

Today, America True is 100% dedicated to providing youth with the opportunity to benefit from sailing and its inherent life lessons. America True's office is located at Pier 40 on San Francisco's historic waterfront.

Women's Sports Foundation

Women's Sports FoundationThe Women’s Sports Foundation is the trusted voice of women’s sports and physical activity because our work is anchored on fact-based research and 34 years of experience in the design and execution of award-winning education and public policy programs. Founded in 1974 by Billie Jean King, the Women’s Sports Foundation is a national charitable educational organization dedicated to advancing the lives of girls and women through physical activity. We are the only national organization promoting all sports and physical activities for women of all ages and skill levels and are acknowledged by the media as the expert resource on all women’s sports issues.

An educated public is the strongest form of advocacy and research is key to demonstrating that sports and physical activity lead to healthier, happier and more productive lives. The Women’s Sports Foundation has a rich history of conducting important research and has made a long-term commitment to a series of signature reports addressing such topics as girls’ participation in sports and physical activity, gender equity in intercollegiate sports, the impact of media images of women in sports and pay equity.

Our vision is a society in which parents understand the benefits of sports and physical activity participation for both their daughters and their sons and equally encourage them to be active and healthy. Together we want to create a society in which girls and women of all ages fully experience and enjoy sports and physical activity with no barriers to their participation. Our success depends on people around the world who work with us to help every girl and woman believe that she can be fit, confident and healthy in a body of any size.
