Spring is Springing
March 19, 2009
In Annapolis Maryland they are holding a ‘sock burning’ ceremony to welcome in the ‘socks optional’ seasons of spring and summer. At Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit Gary Jobson showed a sell-out crowd sailing clips and told stories which got everyone staring out at the water to confirm that the ice is indeed almost all gone. All around the country there are individuals who will be stretching out from the winter huddle and soaking up vitamin D from the sun.
I’ll be among them but I also want to use this spring sensation to energize the projects I have been working on all winter. My presentations are getting a fresh look and I continue to work on my book: Sustained Excellence. Also the calls are starting to come in from people who would like some coaching to dust off the winter and get their sailing team ready for a fast season. At America True, we are working with sailing programs who are realizing that economic crisis or not the simple things in life are what really count – like that feeling of a gentle breeze on your face and the warmth on your shoulder as you sail across the bay or watching a kid who has never seen the water actually pilot her own boat across the harbor.
So let’s walk, run or jump into spring together!
